Daily Devotion for April 5 - Titus 2:11 - 14

Verse

Titus 2:11–14“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession who are zealous for good works.”

Meditation

The grace of God is not abstract—it appeared in the person of Jesus Christ. His incarnation, death, and resurrection bring salvation and also instruct us how to live. Grace does not excuse sin; it transforms the sinner. It teaches us to turn from the old life and live in holiness while we wait with eager hope for Christ’s return. Jesus gave Himself to make us His own people—a people marked by zeal for good works, not to earn salvation, but as fruit of His redeeming love. This grace trains, purifies, and sets us apart to live as citizens of the kingdom now and forever.

Old Testament

Deuteronomy 7:6“For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.”
The LORD has always called and purified a people to be His own—chosen, redeemed, and set apart for good.

Collect

O God of grace, who has appeared in the fullness of time to bring salvation to all, grant that we who have been redeemed by Your Son may deny ungodliness, walk uprightly in this present age, and await with steadfast hope the return of our glorious Savior; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Hymn Verse

“Let us ever walk with Jesus,
Follow His example pure,
Through a world that would deceive us
And to sin our spirits lure.
Onward in His footsteps treading,
Pilgrims here, our home above,
Full of faith and hope and love,
Let us do the Father's bidding.”
