Verse
"For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness." (Psalm 26:3)
Meditation
This verse expresses a life rooted in the assurance of God’s unchanging love and faithfulness. To have His steadfast love “before my eyes” is to constantly focus on His covenantal mercy and kindness, which guide and sustain the believer. The psalmist’s declaration of walking in God’s faithfulness reflects a life lived in response to this enduring love, striving to align actions and thoughts with His truth. This is not a boast of self-righteousness but a humble acknowledgment of God’s empowering presence. The verse calls us to examine where our gaze is fixed—do we dwell on fleeting distractions, or is our focus on the eternal love of the Lord? Walking in faithfulness means trusting in God’s promises and living in a way that reflects His character. This steadfast walk becomes a testimony, showing others the reliability of God’s love and the joy of living in His truth.
Gospel
"If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." (John 8:31–32)
This verse from John aligns with the psalmist's focus on God's steadfast love and faithfulness. The psalmist walks in the assurance of God's truth, just as Jesus calls His disciples to abide in His word, living in the freedom of divine truth. Both passages highlight the transformative power of remaining in God’s covenant love and faithfulness.
Collect
O Lord, You have done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. Grant that we may ever rejoice in Your goodness and proclaim Your wondrous deeds, that our hearts may be steadfast in thanksgiving; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, , who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Hymn Verse
"O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou forever near me,
My Master and my Friend;
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my guide."
